The Eureka Veteran Cycling Club was formed at the beginning of 2009, after the merger of the former Ballarat Veterans Cycling Club with the Ballarat and Sebastopol Cycling Club. The club was formed by a small group of veteran cyclists who felt there was a need for the type of racing that only a vets club can offer. With a membership now in excess of fifty and growing, the new club is well and truly functioning and is affiliated with the Australian Veteran Cycling Council.
The club has permanent rooms located on the outskirts of the Learmonth township, twenty kilometres north-east of Ballarat. The club rooms are on the edge of the dry Lake Learmonth and are shared with the local yacht club. Showers, toilets, changing rooms and cooking facilities are available and enjoyed by all after the races.
Club races are held most Sunday mornings from mid February until the first weekend in December. We don’t normally race on a day when a VVCC open event is scheduled. We have four different circuits that we race ranging in distance from forty five kilometres to sixty kilometres. Most of our races are handicapped events, however we do also have A, B, C and D graded scratch races on a regular basis.
