Sunday's race will be held at Alfredton around Production Drive and
Endeavor Way, 9.00am start. Still none the wiser? Here are the
directions (from a non Ballarat person). Head out of Ballarat along
Sturt Street through the Victory Arch and continue on past the golf
course and the Army barracks on your right.
Just after the Ring road turn right through the divided road into the
service road then left along the service road and Production Drive is a
couple of hundred meters along on your right. (If you find Sturt street
has gone from divided road to single carriageway then you've gone too
far.)
The start/finish will be on the service road just up past Production
Drive. For those not riding out park on the grass on the left of the
service road not on the road please. The circuit is basically a square
with good road surface and fairly wide roads and none of the businesses
on the course work of a Sunday.
Plan A is for C and D grades (separated by a half a lap) to do 30
minutes plus 2 laps then A and B grades to do 40 minutes plus 2 laps.
Two of the corners have no intersecting roads and the two along
Production Drive will have marshals. John Rhook will be master of
ceremonies. Have fun.
First Handicap Sunday
First handicap for the year on Sunday. Handicapper Phil Cartledge assisted by Greame Parker are both active riders and need us to do the right thing so they get the warm-up the rest of us enjoy. So here's how the system works. Entries to Phil by email at farquar8@hotmail.com or text "YOUR NAME entry Sunday"to 0400 304 092 (mob reception can be a bit dodgy at Moonambel) or toGreame Parker at gandeparker9999@bigpond.com or 0425722389. Now I know it sounds a bit silly but don't forget your NAME - yes it did happen last year.Handicaps will be closed and set 30 minutes prior to the start. If you are going to be late or are not starting then NOTIFY HANDICAPPER otherwise the balance of the bunches is upset. Adjustments to handicaps can only be made by the handicapper. Please do not turn up unannounced at the last minute and expect to get a ride. It is just not fair to the handicapper who then would have to miss his warm-up and rehash the field to give each bunch a fair chance. See you Sunday,
City of Ballarat has commissioned us to conduct a bike count in your area. We are now recruiting counters for Super Tuesday and need your help. Do you have two hours to spare on Tuesday 6 March from 7am-9am?
What is Super Tuesday?
Super Tuesday is Australia’s largest visual bike count and will take place in regional and metropolitan areas across Australia.
Click here to learn more - https://www.bv.com.au/general/bike-futures/30600/
Why should I register?
Counters receive a $50 reward towards a Bicycle User Group, club or school that they nominate and a Super Tuesday t-shirt. You will also contribute to the future of bike riding as the data collected will help local councils identify how and where bicycle facilities can be improved to get more people riding.
Now in its sixth year, Super Tuesday is a very popular event with our supporters. Counters enjoy the experience and value the fundraising opportunity. Please tell your club members and get your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours involved too.

For any members doing the Cancer ride next Sunday (12th) if you are looking for a group to start out with some club members have arranged to meet at 8.15 at the City Oval Hotel to save trying to find each other in the throng milling at the start area.
Also on Sunday a couple of members let me know that they would be away or otherwise unavailable at some time during the year. If you are going overseas, interstate or will otherwise be off the scene during the year then let me know and we can avoid rostering you to marshal during that period and save the hassle of you trying to organise a swap. Early this week if possible please as the roster has to be drawn up for the first half year.
•plus any other matters concerning the club.
All members are encouraged to attend to raise any matters to do with the operation of YOUR club. If you cannot attend but wish to raise an issue or make a suggestion then talk to a committee member or email me with details.
